Hirotaka Takita was the clear winner of the tournament, winning all 7 of his matches, and is thus British Open Champion for 2026.

Second and third places were tied on 5 wins each, but Masahiro Ikeda narrowly took 2nd place on tie-break, with Yuro Shirai 3rd.

The top UK player was Stephen Lamb, in 4th place overall, and is thus the 2026 British Closed Champion.

British Woman's Champion

1.        Natasha Regan

In the first 3 rounds of the main tournament, the 4 women competing were paired together in a round robin tournament. Natasha Regan was the clear winner with 3 wins.

The other 3 ladies tied for 2nd place with 1 win each.

May 2025 Tournament and Teaching Event

 Results and Pictures Thank you to everyone who participated in the tournament. The results can be found  here Event Information (3 - 4 May 2025) The London Shogi Club will host a Shogi Event on 3-4 May 2025. This event is open to players of all abilities and of all nationalities.  We will be joined by Nihon Shogi Renmei/Japanese Shogi association teaching professionals Yasushi Ishikawa and Sanada Tetsuaki. It will be a combined Tournament and Teaching Event. The main tournament will be hosted on Saturday 3rd May, with Sunday 4th May having a teaching focus - though we will also have a smaller blitz tournment.
