May 2025 Tournament and Teaching Event

 

Event Information (3 - 4 May 2025)

The London Shogi Club will host a Shogi Event on 3-4 May 2025. This event is open to players of all abilities and of all nationalities. 

We will be joined by Nihon Shogi Renmei/Japanese Shogi association teaching professionals Yasushi Ishikawa and Sanada Tetsuaki.

It will be a combined Tournament and Teaching Event. The main tournament will be hosted on Saturday 3rd May, with Sunday 4th May having a teaching focus - though we will also have a smaller blitz tournment.

We will also be arranging a dinner on the Saturday night. Please let us know if you wish to attend this when you register to help us plan numbers.

Event Format

Saturday 3 May

Introductory lecture by Ishikawa Sensei
5 round Swiss-based Tournament (with one or more tournament groups depending on the number of entries and range of grades)   

Sunday 4 May

Teaching day, with the following activities:
  • Teaching lectures
  • Analysis of selected games from previous day
  • Teaching games
  • Blitz tournament 

Entry Fee

£25 (£15 if you only join a single day)

London Mindsports Center, 21 Dalling Rd, London W6 0JD

The nearest tube station is Ravenscourt Park. The two Hammersmith stations are a bit further away.  It takes 30-50 minutes to get to the venue from the main London railway stations, and 40 minutes from Heathrow airport.

2024 ISF UK Qualification Tournament

Results This tournament is now complete. You can find the tournament report and results  here Tournament Information The British Shogi Federation has been asked to provide a UK representative for the International Shogi Forum to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2024.  The representative will be provided with travelling expenses, and food and accommodation for the duration of the event.  We are holding a qualification tournament on 18 May 2024.
